Description Purpose: The main purpose of the paper is to introduce the basic assumptions of the Structure- Conduct-Performance paradigm, its origin and subsequent significant changes, methods of empirical confirmation of its existence and its importance for the development of Industrial Organization Economics and Strategic Management.Approach: The basic methodological approach to this article is descriptive one, based largely on a review of the literature on Structure-Conduct-Performance Paradigm topic and drawing final conclusions.Implications for society: The development of both Industrial Organization Economics, as well as Strategic Management, has been inextricably bound with Structure-Conduct-Performance Paradigm. This fact is of particular importance when considering the sources of differences between the positioning and resource-based views in the modern Strategic Management which is due to the origins of positioning view in the Industrial Organization Economics, while the resource-based view in Business Policy.Value of the paper: The main value of the paper is to familiarize with the issue of SCP Paradigm and to recognize its significance for the development of the various assumptions of IO Economics and Strategic Management.
