Description This paper provides a review and critical analysis of a university/industry global partnershipthat provides academics around the world with access to a leading enterprise software suite(SAP) to support coursework in university credit-bearing courses. In particular, we primarilyaddress three objectives. First, we provide a brief historical perspective and review of thecurrent state of the SAP University Alliance Program. We look at the challenges of developingan enterprise systems curriculum that effectively leverages the sophisticated SAP enterpriseapplication suite in support of student learning objectives. The experiences reported in thissection are primarily from North American faculty involved in the program. Second, wepresent examples of university curricula from various countries that leverage the SAP UA tosupport innovative methods of teaching and learning, and which leave students with valuableenterprise systems knowledge, experience, and skills. Finally, we present an overview oflearning assessment challenges from AACSB standards that are applicable to the SAPprogram. The SAP UA program, now 10 years old in the U.S., has focused in large part oncurriculum integration adoption challenges and curriculum innovation. An important part ofthis process, which we hope to bring to light in this paper, is the need for well-defined learningassessment protocol. Future curriculum development efforts should be built on a learningobjectives foundation and have a robust learning assessment process inherent to it.
