Description This study presents a gender analysis of labour market participation across different sectors of employment in Kenya using survey data. It tests the hypothesis that gender differences in labour market participation are influenced by differences in education attainment and assets among other individual characteristics. We use multinomial logit techniques to explain participation in the public and private sectors relative to self-employment. The results indicate that education is a much more important determinant of participation for females than for their male counterparts, as well as for the public than for the private sector, relative to self-employment.
