La hipocresía en el atril: ¿Nuestra elección de estilo de vida refleja lo que hablo sobre nuestro compromiso con la sostenibilidad global?

These questions are addressed in this article, drawing on bodies of substantive research tying personal behavioral choices to global warming, fresh water scarcity, energyresource management, the absorptive capacity of the earth to sustain life, and a viable sharing of the earth’s resources to assure a basic level of social justice. A compelling case is made that our personal lifestyles are not incongruence with our avowed concerns for an environmentally sustainable earth and a just sharing of its bounties. The article treats environmental sustainability and social justice as co-imperatives, thereby offering a future scenario that demands lifestyle adjustments and shared sacrifices.
¿Es nuestro modelo de acciones un verdadero compromiso con Ia sostenibilidad global? ¿O es que estas acciones desmienten el compromiso declarado? Estas cuestiones se abordan en este artículo, aprovechando los cuerpos de investigación que relacionan las opciones personales de comportamiento sobre el calentamiento global, Ia escasez de agua potable, Ia gestión de los recursos energéticos, Ia capacidad de absorción de Ia tierra para sostener Ia vida, y el reparto viable de los recursos del planeta para asegurar un nivel básico de Ia justicia social. Un argumento convincente es que nuestros estilos de vida personales no están en consonancia con nuestros intereses declarados para un mundo ambientalmente sostenible. El articulo trata sobre Ia sostenibilidad ambiental y Ia justicia social como co-imperativos, ofreciendo así un escenario futuro que exige ajustes de estilo de vida y sacrificios compartidos.
