ABSTRACTThe theme "Regions on a Global Platform" seeks to deliberate and synthesise on the conceptualisation, roles, and positions of "regions" amid the globalising forces. It suggests that "regionsJ' are not less, but on the other hand are becoming more important with the advent ofglobalisation as regions may play the balancing role between the global forces and local reactions/pro-activeness. Economic globalisation in particular tends to link local innovative and productive centres aroundthe globe through trade and investment. However, this paper posits that developments on this global-local nexus lead toward regionalisation of the locale with its wider region due to the logic of a complex system ofspatial nodes and nehvorks offirms, suppliers, and consumers that not only works best in a region but also organically generates a region of capabilities. But the realities are more complex. Do we have regions on aglobal platform and whose regions? What types of global platform the role regions occupy? These are some of the pertinent questions this article sought to answer.Tema " Wilayah di Pentas Dunia "adalah untuk membicara dan membuat sintesis rnengenai konsepsi, peranan dan kedudukan "wilayah" di tengah tengah daya-kuasa globalisasi. Ia mencadangkan bahawa "wilayah" bukan berkurang, malah bertambah meningkat kepentingannya dengan perkembangan globalisasi kerana wilayah boleh berperanan sebagai pengimbang antara daya-kuasa global dengan tindak balas keproaktifan tempatan. Globalisasi ekonomi khususnya cenderung untuk menghubungkan pusat inovasi dun produktif lokal di sekeliling duniamelalui perdagangan dan pelabumn. Walau bagaimanapun kertas ini mengutarakan bahawa perkembangan pada neksus global-lokal ini'akan menyebabkan regionalisasi terhadap local akibat logik sistem kompleks nod dan rangkaian reruang firma, pembekal, dan pengguna yang bukan sahaja berfungsi dengan terbaikdalam sesuatu wilayah tetapi juga secara organiknya membentuk sebuah wilayah berkebolehan. Namun realitinya adalah komplek. Wujudkah wilayah di atas pentas global dun wilayahsiapa? Apakah bentuk pentas global di mana wilayah ini berperanan? Ini adalah antara persoalan penting untuk dijawab dalam artikel ini.
