This article is an exercise of a tourist monograph in form and content, and a claim for a model of Mediterranean tourism that not necessarily needs reinvention for success. The island of Sicily is the model chosen because it presents some characteristics that blend the traditional sun and beach with the ecotourism, the cultural and the sports tourism. Despite to benefit of the same resources as many other parts of the Mediterranean, isolation could be a resource that reinforces the elements of attraction, its location in the Mediterranean, its natural landscapes, historical and artistic heritages and its cities.
Este artículo es un ejercicio de monografía turística, en forma y en contenido, realizado con el fin de reivindicar un modelo de turismo mediterráneo sostenible. Se quiere subrayar con ello que la innovación (tan en boga en estos tiempos) no siempre tiene que ser sinónimo de reinvención. La isla de Sicilia es el caso de estudio escogido ya que presenta unas características que combinan el tradicional sol y playa, con el ecoturismo, el turismo cultural y el deportivo. A pesar de tener los mismos recursos que otros lugares del mediterráneo su insularidad ha constituido un elemento que refuerza la combinación de sus atractivos, su situación en el mediterráneo, su paisaje natural, su patrimonio histórico y artístico y sus ciudades. |
