The sale of chestnut plots is based on two different quotations. The first, is the result of the estimation of a forestry professional and it is calculated on the base of estimating principles. The second, quotation, is endowed by entrepreneurs and it derives from empirical valuation, as well as, business strategies. The Authors, by means of comparison of econometric models, analyse the influence of parameters and component that characterise the chestnut forest, by the two estimators. The study is developed by date from Irpinia, relevant region in the national context for production chestnut timber. Despite the wide number of variable that potentially influenced timber price, conclusion indicate that only a few are used for estimating it.
