This paper explores the effects of export levelmovements to the PHP exchange rate volatility for the period2005-2014. These two variables have been used by variousanalysts, investors, regulators and policy-makers as importantvariables in explaining the economy of countries. The paper usedhistorical monthly time series of PHP exchange rate and exportlevels in the Philippines from the period January 2005 up toDecember 2014. Stationary test and differencing methods havebeen done to address the stationarity issues of time series data.The study employed the LaGrange-Multiplier Test of ARCH Testand the Exponential Generalized Autoregressive ConditionalHeteroskedasticity (EGARCH) to test the variablesheteroskedasticity and the Granger Test for Causality in order totest the variables' causation. The results shows that, the exportlevel has no significant effects on the PHP exchange rate, and viceversa. The historical movement of the Philippine export level hasno significant causal effect on the movement of PHP exchangerate, and vice versa. The result of this study implies that theappreciation or depreciation of the Philippine peso does notprovide any benefits or adverse effects on the export level of thePhilippines and the increased or decreased level of export levels isnot an important function in the determination of the PHPexchange rate.
