Description Shopping is an activity that occurs in all countries. Proper planning and development of shopping centre are necessary in order to provide good accessibility to the community. This study was conducted to analyse the distribution pattern of shopping centres in the Klang Valley and to determine the classification of shopping centres that were built in the area. Field survey was conducted in order to identify the location of shopping centres in the Klang Valley and to classify them. Classification of shopping centre is divided into neighbourhood, community, specialty, regional, super regional and hypermarkets. The study areas are West Klang Valley, East Klang Valley, North Klang Valley, South Klang Valley, and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. The results show that the current distribution of shopping centres in the Klang Valley are scattered in various regions. Location of shopping centres in the West Klang Valley shows similarity to the locational pattern for shopping centres in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur is still a major locational to shopping centre in the Klang Valley. In accordance to the population distribution, the region of East Klang Valley, North Klang Valley and South Klang Valley have evidently locating several classifications of shopping centres. These findings can be used by the authorities for planning and development of shopping centres in the future.Keywords: Klang Valley; planning and development; location; classification; shopping centreABSTRAK Aktiviti membeli-belah adalah suatu aktiviti yang berlaku di semua negara. Perancangan pembangunan pusat membeli-belah adalah perlu untuk memberi akses yang baik kepada masyarakat. Kajian ini dijalankan bagi mengenal pasti pola taburan pusat membeli-belah di Lembah Klang dengan memperincikan jenis pusat membeli-belah yang dibangunkan di kawasan tersebut. Tinjauan lapangan dijalankan bagi mengenal pasti lokasi peletakan terkini pusat membeli-belah di Lembah Klang serta pengelasan setiap jenis pusat membeli-belah. Pengelasan pusat membeli- belah dibahagikan kepada beberapa kategori iaitu neighbourhood, community, specialty, regional, super regional dan hypermarket. Kawasan kajian adalah meliputi Lembah Klang Barat, Lembah Klang Timur, Lembah Klang Utara, Lembah Klang Selatan, dan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa taburan semasa pusat membeli-belah di Lembah Klang adalah bersifat berselerak di pelbagai wilayah. Peletakan pusat membeli- belah di wilayah Lembah Klang Barat menunjukkan jumlah yang hampir sama dengan peletakan pusat membeli- belah di Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur masih menjadi lokasi peletakan utama pusat membeli-belah di Lembah Klang. Bersesuaian dengan populasi penduduk, wilayah Lembah Klang Timur, Lembah Klang Utara dan Lembah Klang Selatan turut menempatkan beberapa jenis pusat membeli-belah. Hasil kajian ini boleh digunakan oleh pihak berkuasa sebagai asas bagi perancangan dan pembangunan pusat membeli- belah di masa hadapan.Kata kunci: Lembah Klang, perancangan dan pembangunan, lokasi, pengelasan, pusat membeli-belah
