Description Discussion on the relationship between politics, insecurity and internal displaced persons (IDPs) in North-Eastern Nigeria is particularly important today when the region has become so volatile under the current political dispensation. Insecurity is nowadays a topical issue in the North-Eastern region as developments reported on the region which often receive international publicity relates to insurgency, bombings, killings, abductions and other terror- related activities. The insecurity has led to painful displacement of thousands persons in the region. Many people have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the crisis and therefore become internal displaced persons. In other words, they sadly become refugees in their own country. The insecurity situation is both an issue demanding our attention and a problem calling for a resolution. This paper is a contribution to the ongoing discussion on the security problem in North-Eastern region of Nigeria from 2009 to 2015. It attempts to study and show the important, but complex and largely less talked about at least in the academic circles, the organic link between politics, insecurity and internal
displaced persons in the region and elsewhere.
