Description |
This paper surveys the recent stream of thoughts in the issues of development strategiesand role of government. From the generation of state-led development and very high governmentintervention to the generation of neo-liberalism with minimal role of government, we have witnessedthe ups and downs of those generations. From those lessons, the new generation development strategiesof the twenty-first century have emerged. More equitable distribution and poverty reduction, decentpublic institutions, and economic stabilization are the key strategies, which require a significant role ofgovernment. These key strategies aim to achieve the sustainable development of the world focusingmore on the human well-being.
