We examined the relationship between a Wilderness Conservation Corp (WCC) crew leaders’ transformational leadership behaviors and growth mindset and the number of safety incidents reported for each crew leader during one summer of wilderness crew activity. We found that the older the crew leader, the fewer the number of safety incidents; the higher the level of Individual Consideration (IC) behaviors, the lower the number of safety incidents; the overall Transformational Leadership (TL) measure was negatively correlated with the number of safety incidents. Idealized Influence Attributed (IIA) and Inspirational Motivation (IM) as assessed by crew members were also negatively correlated with safety incidents. We found that overall TL was negatively correlated with growth mindset.Keywords: transformational leadership, growth mindset, safety
