Description The problem of militancy and terrorism is so complex that it has drawn worldwide attention due its dire consequences especially on mental and psychological well-being of human beings. Whatever may be the reasons for the violence in Kashmir, it has resulted in distortion of psychological wellbeing of people, mental imbalance, and feeling of insecurity, uncertainty and unpredictable future for the younger generation.  Devastation seems to be the regular feature of life in Kashmir. Everywhere there is chaos, confusion, terror and uncertainty. The valley of Kashmir has witnessed blood curdling events since 1988. Killing, murders agitation and assaults have intensified at a fastest pace during 1990 s and whole of the population of Kashmir is engulfed by militancy and violence. This has brought woes and miseries in Kashmir that was known for peace and tranquility. Thus, in the context of prevailing situation created by militancy, it becomes important to study the psychological aspect of communities who confront such situations constantly and have to live in such an environment. Thus, the present research was planned to study psychological wellbeing and emotional intelligence among militancy and non-militancy affected people in Kashmir. The study was conducted on 240 participants hailing from Kashmir. The places which were highly affected by militancy were identified and each participant was contacted personally and rapport was established with them.
