Developing markets have been shown tohave institutional frameworks that differ from that indeveloped economies and greatly affects thetransaction costs in the market which favours the useof the collaborative mode of entry. This study arguesconditions exist in unstable developing markets thatsupport the use of the wholly owned subsidiary. Itdiscusses these conditions from empirical analysis ofthe conditions in the Nigerian market and introducesthe need for research to focus on a wider perspectiveon entry mode research suggesting a look at not justcost minimization measures, but also value creationand the notion of strategic flexibility underuncertainty as advocated by the real options theory.
