Description Confusion and controversy surrounding the area of “self-management” stem from a failure to consider the multi-level nature of self-management and a lack of terminological consensus among researchers. The current paper analyzes both conceptual and empirical objections to self-management. Included in the discussion is a description of the effectiveness of self-management as well as an attempt at incorporation of self-management within the overall radical behavioral framework.
