Description      After some conceptual comments regarding agrotourism within the more general context of rural tourism, the main results of studies analysing the situation and perspectives of the agrotourism activity performed in the penibetic rural areas have been comented. Theese results are mainly obtainded from two surveys, to both visitors and farmers, made at the mountainous area of the Eastern Alpujarra.
     From the analysis some major problems for developing agrotourism activities in the area have been identified and comented, and then some conclusions have, finally, been drawn, pointing-out strategic actions to overcome the mentioned problems.
     En el presente trabajo, tras ofrecer algunos aspectos conceptuales sobre el agroturismo, se comentan los principales resultados de un análisis de la situación y perspectivas de la actividad agroturística en la zona más oriental de la parte alta de la comarca granadina de Las Alpujarras. Estos resultados han sido obtenidos, principalmente, mediante encuestas y entrevistas a visitantes y agricultores de la zona.
     Posteriomente, se ofrecen algunas conclusiones y, a partir de ellas, se perfilan estrategias con el fin de aprovechar el potencial recreativo de los sistemas agrarios para el desarrollo rural integrado, endógeno y sostenible de la zona estudiada
