Description In the past 20 years, both locally and at national and regional interest in sustainable development has been increasing. Sustainable development is associated with quality of life, such that economy-environment-human relationship is the focus.  Bulgaria and Romania joined the EU in 2007 and their performance improvement plans include sustainable development. This paper proposes to follow the evolution of some sustainable development indicators for these two countries compared to EU average. The hypothesis is that, just as with macroeconomic indicators, there are important discrepancies, with a general tendency to attenuation.
