El turismo ornitológico es un caso paradigmático de la evolución imparable que ha experimentado la industria turística en las últimas décadas. Nos encontramos ante un mercado turístico altamente especializado, donde el entorno natural y sus recursos se han convertido en el telón de fondo para una multitud de actividades de ocio. En este trabajo se define el producto del turismo ornitológico, enmarcándolo en las tendencias de los consumidores turísticos del postfordismo. Se analizan las singularidades y la complejidad de esta tipología turística, con el fin de descubrir las oportunidades y amenazas que supone su desarrollo creciente. Finalmente, se presentarán algunos de los retos necesarios para cumplir con el objetivo de convertir el turismo ornitológico en un verdadero catalizador de la conservación de los recursos naturales, y más concretamente de la protección de la avifauna, que es el principal objeto de consumo de la mirada de los turistas ornitológicos.
Ornithological tourism is a paradigmatic case of the unstoppable evolution that the tourist industry has experienced in the last few decades. We are in front of a highly specialized tourist market, where the environment and its resources have turned into the backdrop for a multitude of leisure activities. In this study, the ornithological tourism product is defined, framing it into the trends of postfordist consumers. The singularity and complexity of this tourist typology are analyzed, in order to discover the opportunities and threats that its increasing development mean. Finally, some challanges will be introduced to comply with the aim of converting ornithological tourism into a real catalyzer for the conservation of the natural resources, and more precisely for the protection of birds, which are the main consuming object of the ornithological tourists´ gaze. |
