Description Objective. This study examined the extent to which various demographic, social networks, leisure, and emotional/physical health factors were associated with life satisfaction for middle-aged widows. Methods. The sample was a secondary data analysis from a national AARP (telephone) survey of adults (Montenegro, 2013). For the current study, a subsample of widows aged 40-59 years was selected (n=148). The respondents completed a telephone survey in which they reported their demographic (e.g., race, income), social network, leisure and health characteristics. Results. A four-step hierarchical regression revealed that the variables accounted for 27% of the variances in life satisfactions (R2 adjusted=.19, p<.001). Beta values indicated that income and health factors were unique predictors of satisfaction. Conclusions. Health and income might matter more because adults deal with these issues routinely. In contrast, social network and leisure factors might be intermittent issue in their lives.
