Description |
Teaching-learning process involved in Science and Mathematics had been a challenge over centuries throughout the world. Engaging the learners in the class-room is a difficult task. In recent years a lot of research work in the field of Cognitive Science revealed that practice of metaphorical thinking in teaching–learning process enhances the information processing ability of learners. The nature of the human mind is to look for similarities between the objects it perceives. Therefore, the practice of Metaphorical thinking will enhance the ability to search for similarities between two different objects differing in their meaning completely. Metaphorical thinking ability could be enhanced by incorporating Metaphorical thinking statements in the lesson –plan the teacher implements during the teaching-learning process. The present paper work explains the implications of Metaphorical thinking as an innovative approach in teaching- learning of Science and Mathematics proved to improve the information processing ability of learners.
