Description The Melnik vine-growing region has been formed for centuries and has kept many old skills in grape growing and wine making. The article presents the traditional way of growing vines according to local geographic, soil and climatic characteristics. The efforts to preserve the unique local variety of a wide Melnik vine are studied. The traditional way of setting up new plants, the next important operations, the vineyard instruments and the entire traditional economic calendar of the region are studied. The research is based on the fieldwork of the author and on various sources - ampelographic literature, ethnographic and historical sources for the Melnik region.
