Description |
This study examines the causality between oil prices and stock prices in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries over the period January 2005 to December 2015 by using panel causality tests. The results of panel causality test of Konya (2006) shows that there exists unidirectional causality from stock prices to the oil prices only in Bahrain. However, the asymmetric panel causality test which introduced in this study to reveal the hidden causality between variables shows the inadequacy of panel causality test in the case of asymmetric causality and reveals more causality relationships between the variables.
