Description In the recent past, India has actively pursued its foreign trade policy by concluding/negotiating the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with leading trade and investment partners. India’s very recent inking of investment and services pact with ASEAN is considered as a significant step towards the realization of trade and investment potentials under its “Look East” policy. The present study is an attempt to see the trend and pattern of investment between India and ASEAN in the ongoing economic environment. The ARDL bounds-testing approach of time series econometrics confirms the presence of long-run as well short-run equilibrium relationship between FDI inflows of India and select ASEAN member countries. Also, Singapore’s FDI inflows have significant positive impact on Indian FDI inflows. It is found that both trade and investment among two groups are confronted on the front of non-tariff measures, complex legal environment, poor infrastructure, lack of transparency, regulatory issues, etc.
