Transformed Education System

Description The phenomenon of globalization which transformed world trade, communications and economic relations in the latter part of the 21st century has had a similarly profound effect on education system. It has added various new dimensions to the education sector. It is in this entire backdrop that the present paper thus aims to analyze the pros and cons of such changes due to internationalization of education and its impact on Indian higher education system. With growing emphasis on interdisciplinary competency, teaching, professional service, public accountability, student evaluations, and assessment of learning, expectations from the education providers are changing. With a new focus on collaborative learning, active learning, and service learning the role of the educationists is fast evolving. It focuses on the bottom line, accountability, efficiency, and productivity. Thus, we must develop a realistic policy towards the role of private enterprise in higher education and its internationalization. The Education system needs to be student centered, national oriented and national minded! It is in this totality that higher education system should be assessed, enriched and recrafted.
