Description The present study aims at the identification of the level of awareness and attitude of teacher trainees of B.Ed colleges about population problem and population education and also to find out the relationship between the attitude and awareness of men and women teacher trainees, arts and science teacher trainees, high and low caste teacher trainees of government, government aided colleges.The findings of the study revealed that (1) Arts and Science teacher trainees of the training colleges are mostly aware of the population problem of the country; (2) Most of the arts and science teacher trainees’ especially female teacher trainees of the training colleges had favorable attitude towards population education; (3) An attempt was made to compare the awareness as well as attitude between the male and female teacher trainees of training colleges. In the overall sample, the variables of awareness and attitude were found to be positively and highly correlated.

The sample was delimited to only Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh. The stratified sampling design was used. The total sample of 400 teacher trainees of B.Ed colleges, both male and female, arts and science, high caste and low caste were randomly selected.
