Description |
The article sums up and discusses the main points of the controversies over monetary policy which flared up anew in the United States with the resurgence of inflationary pressures in mid-1950. Against this background, the author appraises the importance of the principal measures that have been gradually taken and reasserts - though with some important qualifications - his opinion in favour of the renewed emphasis now placed upon general monetary policy as an anti-inflationary weapon in a rearmament period.
