Description |
Consumption is a major variable which is strongly associated with production level and national income in the economy. Having Knowledge of consumption function and estimating the marginal propensity to consume help policy makers to adopt right tools to cope with the economic issues. The present study aims to estimate total consumption function of health care services in Iran during the years 1981 – 2011.The present research is a statistical-analytical study and subject is health care sector. In data processing, econometric methods in the framework of error-correction model and software Eviews 8 were used. Results showed that the error correction coefficient in consumption function of health care services is equal to -0.291. During the study period the marginal propensity to consume health services in Iran is equal to 0.713. Also according to this result, the marginal propensity to save during this period is equal to 0.287. Governments in planning and budgeting system, depending on the macro-economic situation of the country, should seek to find new and sustainable sources of revenue for the health care sector, such as health tax and tax on smoking. The findings of this study in all countries which have dependence on natural resource or tourism revenues that through internal and external shocks the realizing of their revenues may be faced with problem will be used.
