Description This paper examines the effect of the distribution of the national income on household consumption in China based on the data of 30 provinces between 1993-2011. The result shows that the labor income has greater impact on household consumption than the profit income at the national level, but the inter-provincial heterogeneity is also indicated by regional differences.Profit income plays a decisive role in household consumption in the eastern area, while labor income functions more significantly in the central region. At a result, constructive suggestions are made on the improvement of the residents’ revenues based on the fairness policy in order to protect employees’ working rights and opportunities with consideration of regional differences.
