Description |
The study investigated the students’ participation in decision–making in school administration in Private Senior High Schools in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of Ghana. The study was a quantitative study. Using a descriptive research design, purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used to sample the views of 201 students and 16 school authorities and teachers. A self-designed research questionnaire was used to collect data from the participants. The data was analysed using frequencies and percentages. It revealed that students were mostly not involved in key decision-making processes in schools, though the schools have SRC in place. The channels of grievances are not well defined in the schools. It therefore, recommended that the SRC should be made more vibrant and be involved in most school decision-making processes. There should be a system set up for students to channel their grievance and suggestions to the school authorities, and mechanisms for approaching suitable problem solution and method for decision-making. These the researchers believe would help improve decision making-procedures in the Senior High Schools.
