Abstract: This paper intends to study Chinese Painting by offering a brief introduction to it. It studies firstly the materials and tools employed in Chinese Painting; then it comes to the discussion of the uniqueness of Chinese Painting and some strategies are given to viewers to better comprehend Chinese Painting; next this paper demonstrates how to” read” Chinese Paintings through the detailed analysis of some works; and finally the paper comes to the conclusions that Chinese Painting is the treasure of China’s culture. To better understand the essence of Chinese Paintings, the works have to be fully considered in the cultural and social context.Keywords: Chinese Painting; artistic concepts; cultural and social context
