Description |
The incorporation of subsistence economies into "modem" market economies has been studied from numerous perspectives ranging from economic theories to the anthropological sciences. Neo-classical economists, for instance, have developed the New Household Economics (NHE) model to examine the impact of changes in agricultural production, wage rates and technology on the morphology and organization of rural households. From this perspective, the household is considered a small firm which makes the most efficient use of resources in order to minimize the costs of production and to maximize consumption.'
