Description |
The collapse of the Soviet bloc along with ongoing global economic restructuring have given rise to many calls for a "new internationalism," or for a renewed multilateralism. Paradoxically, as suggested above, these calls to multilateralism are both evocative of the post- World War II "golden era" of Canadian foreign policy and highly contemporary, as post-Cold War global restructuring focuses attention on the construction of a "new world order" in which multilateral institutions have been given unprecedented prominence.
