Both product and international diversified firmsplay a significant role in the world economy.Therefore, assessing the relationship betweendiversification and performance has attracted a lotof attention for decades. However, the focus is ondeveloped countries. In this study by using acomprehensive framework we have attempted tofind if the theories, that have been built based on thediversification studies in advanced countries, areapplicable to the firms in the emerging markets.Based on results, we conclude that some of thetheories validated in advanced countries areapplicable to firms in the emerging markets andsome are not.
