Description |
Kudumbashree is an innovative, women centered state poverty eradication programme being carried out since 1998 in rural areas and since 2000 in urban areas of the state. Though there has been a phenomenal growth in the number of micro enterprises, it should be noted that the enterprises which remain at present in Kerala are not exactly those that were started years back. In other words, a number of enterprises have closed down and new enterprises have arisen in its place. There are causalities, pointing pertinently at the need for examining the financial viability of these self-help groups and for identifying the causes for the failures. This study examines the financial viability of rural women micro enterprises in Kerala and assesses the financial management efficiency of these women led micro businesses.
