Description The recent work of a number of neo-Marxian thinkers has focussed on problems of ensuring mass loyalty in capitalist society. It is argued that there is a growing crisis tendency as the state exhausts its political alternatives in its continual efforts to balance the claims of legitimation against those of accumulation.
