Description Presented Paper in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Conference - Challenges & Opportunities 1st – 2nd May, 2012 Organized by College of Business & Economics, Qassim University, Saudi Arabia  Abstract. The  purpose  of  this  study  is  to  investigate  IFRS  competency  among  accounting  department students  at  Kuwait  University.  The  investigation  was  carried  at  the  accounting  department  of  Kuwait University  during  the  academic  year  2010-2011.  Students  nominated  for  graduation  were  selected  to participate in this study. In addition to a sequence of short questionnaires, a concise exit exam was used to explore student’s competency in IFRS accounting. Results have showed poor awareness among students toward IFRS which is alarming as to the quality of outputs as well as adopted teaching methods. Also, it necessitates  great  attention  on  the  part  of  educators  at  Kuwait  University  to  improve  accounting department outputs.  Keywords: Accounting Students, IFRS Competency, Kuwait.
