Description |
There is a peculiar irony to how we conceive and live reality in an age characterized by perpetual change and transformation. Capitalism is on its way to becoming the universal mode of production with the collapse of the Soviet bloc, continuing penetration of foreign capital into the pre-capitalist enclaves of the Third World, and the commodification of social and cultural realms in advanced capitalist formations. Under the globalization of capitalism, human pursuits in an ever wider range of activities, from work to sports, arts and entertainment, have been subordinated to the logic of capital.
