Description One of the relevant problems of the present state of the national cattle production is an unsatisfactory provision of animals with protein-containing food. Under the conditions of protein deficit in the ration of animals on feed or constituting a milking herd, it is impossible to count on production growth. This, in turn, leads to low indices of economic efficiency in cattle production and its noncompetitiveness against foreign producers. One of the main directions of solving this problem is a return to the forgotten practice of compiling a balanced protein ration for animals. The obligatory condition of being balanced is an introduction of foods prepared on the basis of leguminous plants into the structure of the ration. The carried out research was aimed at studying of development dynamics and the present state of the food base in agricultural enterprises of the Rostov region as an example. The authors performed an evaluation of efficiency of grain crops and leguminous plants taking into account their protein full value. Factors affecting the condition of production of these crops have been established. The results of the research allowed the authors to make a conclusion that the solution of the problem of protein deficit in the rations of animals may be found only within the region. The problem should be solved at the expense of mobilization of the resource potential of the region’s own production of highly protein grain, the increase of perennial and annual grass plantings, efficient use of natural food areas and cultivated grasslands. The authors suggested using the results of selective developments widely in practice, improving technologies of cultivation of pea as the most valuable feeding crop both from the point of view of its biological potency and the economic efficiency of cultivation. The suggested in the article priority directions of development of the fodder supplies of cattle production in the Rostov region, may certainly become interesting and relevant for agrarian enterprises of other regions of Russia.
The paper deals with the selection of priority directions of development of fodder livestock industry Rostov region.
